Solar Water Heating
How solar water heating works
The roof mounted, slimline flat plate collectors transfer the sun's heat directly into the water that flows through the panel. The water is then circulated to the hot water cylinder where it is stored ready for use. If there is not enough sun to heat the water to the required temperature, or if you use all water in your cylinder quickly, then the system will use another energy source (like electricity, gas or a wetback) to bring the cylinder water up to the desired heat.
The water circulation and the booster heat are controlled by the Solarstat controller, this is programmed to activate an electric pump when there is a specific temperature difference (10 degrees) between the water in the cylinder and the the water in the panels so that a constant temperature is maintained by circulating and re heating the water as necessary. The controller will aslo ensure that the auxilery heating source is only turned on as needed, so that power is not going to waste and you'll have hot water on demand all year round. The SolarElite system is also compatible with mains pressure or low pressure and works with electricity or gas, and is wetback compatible.
