The Maari Field is located in the Taranaki Basin 80 kms offshore from South Taranaki in permit 38160.
Adjoining this licence is permit 38413 which contains the Manaia prospect.
Field History
The Maari Field was first discovered in 1983 and is currently being developed by Operator OMV New Zealand Ltd together with Joint Venture partners Todd Maari Ltd, Cue Taranaki Pty Ltd and Horizon Oil Ltd.
First oil is planned for 2008.
Field Facilities
The proposed development of the Maari Field consists of five production and three water injection wells, and an unmanned Wellhead Platform. A FPSO (Floating Production Storage & Offloading) will be permanently moored 1.5 kms from the Wellhead Platform.
Power, water injection and processing facilities will all be located on the FPSO. A Workover Rig will be installed at a later date for ESP installation/repair and wax management. Subsea flowlines for oil production and injection water will link the FPSO and Wellhead Platform.
