Our story

The Todd story is inextricably linked with the birth and growth of New Zealand.

Our beginnings were as fellmongers and wool scourers in 1880s Otago. We imported the nation’s first cars and learnt how to assemble our own. We built service stations and kept the fuel supply going when the world was in turmoil, and today we’re helping shape the energy landscape of the future.

By building and investing in industries that make up the backbone of the nation, by enabling other businesses to thrive, by supporting and empowering communities from the grassroots up, we’ve long helped drive New Zealand’s progress and prosperity.

Our story is also one of family. From our earliest father-and-son days in agribusiness, through the generations of descendants who took up the mantle, Todds have been held together by values of enterprise, hard work and determination, fairness and generosity.

Still proudly family-owned, Todd today is the latest expression of a long, rich and resilient history. We’re as driven as ever by principles of valuing our people, caring for community and environment and holding ourselves to the highest ethical standards. We’re bound by our commitment to a sustainable, successful legacy and a shared vision for what lies ahead: a story of innovation, adaptability and collective prosperity with many more chapters to come.
